Invest in Texas Public Schools

The future of Texas depends on funding the future of our 5.5 million public school children. When Texas invests in public education, that investment reaches every classroom.

Texas public school funding affects every classroom, every teacher, and every student. Strong, stable investment helps schools provide safe campuses, qualified educators, academic programs, student services, and the support children need to succeed in communities across the state.

When Texas invests in public education, that investment reaches every classroom. It supports qualified teachers, safe campuses, modern instructional materials, career and technical education, advanced academics, fine arts, athletics, transportation, school meals, counseling, and services that help students learn and thrive. These are not extras. They are part of what it takes to educate children well and prepare them for success after graduation.

Strong public schools are essential to a thriving state. Employers need graduates who can read critically, solve problems, communicate clearly, work in teams, and adapt to a changing economy. Families need schools they can count on. Communities need public institutions that bring people together and create opportunity close to home, and not just in urban areas but in every corner of Texas.

But schools cannot meet rising expectations with inadequate or unstable funding. Districts across the state are facing higher costs for staff, utilities, insurance, transportation, school safety, student services, and instructional materials. At the same time, many are working to recruit and retain educators in a highly competitive labor market.

Texas students deserve a school finance system that reflects the real cost of education and provides long-term support for the schools that serve the vast majority of children in our state. Here are some key facts:

  • Public schools serve every community. They are open to students in every part of Texas and remain the only education system with the responsibility and capacity to serve all children.
  • Stable school funding supports student success. Investments in teachers, programs, safety, mental health, and academic support help students stay on track and graduate ready for college, careers, or the military.
  • Strong schools strengthen Texas. Public education helps build the workforce, civic leadership, and community stability that keep Texas growing.
